Cost: Free

How it works: The Member Rate is a discount of at least 2% off the hotel's lowest available public rates for non-Premium rooms when you book through the Marriott Bonvoy websites and app, the hotel itself or a service centre (programme terms); no upper limit is stated. Advance booking is required. It does not apply to groups of 10 or more rooms or to government, negotiated, AAA and Senior rates, and it cannot be combined with “some” promotions (the terms do not list them). Stays earn 10 points per USD, elite tiers get a 10–75% bonus, and there is free standard in-room internet when you book through Marriott channels. Co-branded cards issued for UAE residents by Emirates NBD (World Elite, World) and ADIB (Visa Infinite, Visa Signature) exist: check their terms with the bank.

Cons

• The discount is “at least 2%”: the upper limit and the percentage for UAE hotels are not stated in the terms
• Third-party booking sites (Booking.com, Expedia and the like) give no Member Rate, points or status
• It cannot be combined with some promotions and discounts; the terms do not describe combining it with cards and associations (ADCB, Mazaya, Esaad, Fazaa)
• Points expire if the account is inactive for 24 consecutive months, and cannot be exchanged for cash

How to earn

• 10 base points per USD spent on qualifying charges during a stay (5 at some brands) source
• Elite bonus on base points: Silver 10%, Gold 25%, Platinum 50%, Titanium 75% source
• No points or elite benefits for rooms booked through tour operators, online travel channels or other third-party channels source

How to redeem

• A Standard Redemption Award covers the full cost of a standard room for one or more nights; PointSavers awards are limited-time source
• Points cannot be exchanged for cash, prizes or credit source
• Up to 150,000 points per calendar year can be bought through the Buy Points storefront source

Points expiry
